Easy Homemade Mayonnaise
I should have done this a long time ago! It’s so simple to make and oh so delicious!
Not to mention, you know exactly what is in it! Store bought mayo has lots of ingredients that are not necessary and not so good for you!
Use either extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil for good healthy fats and farm fresh eggs if you have them available to you really make the best mayo!
Add other ingredients or seasonings of choice and you have the most delicious and easiest mayo!
Ingredients:
1 farm fresh egg
1 cup extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil
1/2 Tablespoon lemon juice
1/4-1/2 teaspoon salt - sea salt or pink Himalayan are preferred - do not use table salt
1/4 teaspoon ground mustard - optional
other seasonings of choice - can be added after as well to taste
Instructions:
In a wide mouth mason jar, add the egg, lemon juice, salt, mustard or other seasonings desired*
Using an immersion blender, blend to emulsify egg, lemon juice and seasonings til creamy.
Then pour oil slowly into jar while blending, run immersion blender up and down until you reach the desired creamy mayonnaise texture.
Store in the refrigerator and use within 1-2 weeks.
This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled based on how much mayo you use.
*other seasonings can be mixed in after as well, create garlic mayo, spicy mayo, or go a little heavier on the mustard if you prefer. You can really create any flavor you would like here, get creative and enjoy different delicious homemade mayo flavors!
